It seems that over 90% of conventional skin and hair care products are packaged in plastic these days. Would you grow an organic garden in the middle of an oil plant, and enjoy eating from it? I know I wouldn't. We, at Two Green Witches, feel the same about our skincare products.
So why do companies spend all their time creating a beautiful product with organic plants, herbs and high-quality ingredients then package them in plastic?
Wouldn't you want to store it in something that protects the integrity of the formula? Plastic is cheap, therefore it lowers the retail cost of the product for the consumer, however, research has shown that plastic containing the chemical BPA can leach into skin and haircare products.
Bisphenol A (BPA) is found in many plastic bottles and containers and further research shows that BPA can be absorbed through the skin. Exposure to BPA is a concern because of possible adverse health effects, such as increased blood pressure and changes in hormone levels.
Storing products in cheap plastic shows a lot about the quality of the skincare or haircare product.
Choose to buy products in glass containers, however, if this is cost prohibitive opt for BPA free plastic when glass is not possible.
I don't know about you, but I have enough hormonal swings as it is!!
